Biography

Born in Japan in 1965 and 1966 respectively, Shin and Tomoko Azumi met at Kyoto City University of Art and both went on to study at London’s Royal College of Art. After graduating, they formed their own design practice working for international clients in the fields of furniture, product and exhibition design.

Their collaboration with Hitch Mylius started in 2001 with the launch of hm30; in 2003 they developed the hm38 dining chair. The Azumi partnership was dissolved in 2005 and both partners now have their own design consultancies.
