Biography

Born in Belgium in 1968, Schöning set up his own industrial design practice in 1994 having graduated in product design at the Henry van de Velde Institute, Antwerp. Following successful commissions with commercial clients in Europe and the US, in 2004 he won the prestigious contract to design and develop a new corporate identity for the Belgian Railways for which he won a Red Dot Design Award and the coveted IF Designer of the Year 2008. His public seating system hm213 is Schöning Studio’s first collaboration with Hitch Mylius, launched in 2014.
